Young rising star Lauren Dolan joins Bizkaia-Durango

2019-06-20

Britain’s Lauren Dolan (Exeter, 1999) will race for the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Team in the second half of the 2019 season — and also during the 2020 season.

Dolan is widely known after she suffered a hard crash at the 2017 UCI Road World Championships, which became one of the images of the year.

This season, Dolan has achieved some remarkable results, such as a second place in a stage of Tour of Uppsala (2.2 UCI) — as well as the third place overall — or her 15th place at the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria (1.2 UCI).

Two weeks ago she competed at the Tour de Bretagne (2.2 UCI) with the British National Team, achieving three top-10 spots, but during the last stage she suffered a crash in which she broke her elbow. Because of this crash, Dolan will not be able to make her debut with Bizkaia-Durango, at least, until next month.

“Lauren is a rider we had been some time following and she has proved she can fight for great results in international races. We are happy to have her in the team — also in 2020 — and we are sure she will be one of our top riders. Now we are looking forward to her recovery after the crash and we hope she can get well soon so she can make her debut in a few weeks,” says Agurtzane Elorriaga, Bizkaia-Durango DS.
