Alice Maria Arzuffi returns to Bizkaia-Durango

2019-10-03

Alice Maria Arzuffi (Giussano, 1994) will be back to the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Continental Women’s Team in 2020, after having competed with the Valcar-Cylance team during the 2019 season. The Italian rider, who was already a Bizkaia Durango rider in 2018, “comes back home” in order to be one of the team leaders. She will try to repeat the results achieved in her last period in the Basque team.

Arzuffi is a strong all-rounder who manages especially well in the hardest races of the calendar. She got some remarkable results this year — she was 7th in the Tour de Yorkshire GC, 13th at the Festival Elsy Jacobs and 17th at the Women’s Tour. In 2018, racing for Bizkaia Durango, she achieved a superb third place at the Giro Rosa stage 5. In addition, she was 9th in the Giro uphill TT, 4th at la Classique Morbihan and 6th in the Gracia-Orlová GC.

“I am happy to announce that I will be back in the Bizkaia-Durango colors for 2020. I had a nice experience with the team in 2018 and I am looking forward to some other action for the next road season,” says Alice Maria Arzuffi.

“Having Alice back in the team is really great for us. She’s a rider who got some great results two years ago with us and we fully believe she can repeat that, as she’s such a talented and experienced rider in spite of being so young. Also, she’s not just a great rider, but also a great person who helps the team and creates a nice environment with the teammates. We are really looking forward to the new season as we believe we are creating a competitive team,” says Agurtzane Elorriaga, Bizkaia-Durango DS.

Six riders are already confirmed in the 2020 Bizkaia-Durango roster: Alice Maria Arzuffi, Lauren Dolan, Aroa Gorostiza, Amaia Lartitegi, Irene Loizate and Irati Puigdefábregas.
