Bizkaia-Durango returns to La Course on Saturday

2020-08-27

For the third time ever, the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Continental Team will compete at La Course by Le Tour. The race organised by ASO will take place on Saturday, August 29 — the same day as the men’s Tour de France Grand Départ.

On its seventh edition, La Course will have a course which will cover some of the TDF stage one areas. Côte de Rimiez, with 5.9 % at 5 % average slope, will be the hardest climb of the day — and will be climbed for the last time with over 30 km to go.

Bizkaia-Durango will race in Nice with these six riders: Alice Maria Arzuffi, Ariana Gilabert, Lucía González, Lizzie Holden, Amaia Lartitegi and Carla Oberholzer. Oberholzer will make her return to European racing six months later.

Agurtzane Elorriaga, Bizkaia-Durango DS: “This is one of the most important races for us, as media coverage is higher than in any other race. There will be a lot of world class riders in the start, so the bunch will likely split in the hardest parts of the course. Our riders will have to do their best — I’m sure they will! We are very happy to have Carla back in this race — she has proven a lot of times she can be at a top level.”

Basque public TV (ETB), Eurosport and many other platforms will broadcast La Course live.
