García, Casado and Escursell will continue in Bizkaia-Durango in 2016

2015-12-03

After Lourdes Oyarbide, Lierni Lekuona and Paula Lanz’s contract extensions, and the signings of Kim Le Court, Irati Idirin and Naia Leonet, now the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team is pleased to announce three more riders who will continue riding for the Basque team in 2016: Mavi García, Coral Casado and Elisabet Escursell. For the three of them this will be their second season in-a-row with the Bizkaia-Durango colors.

The notable duathlete Mavi García (Palma, 1984) got a very quick adaption to road cycling in 2015, on her first season racing on the road. Her greatest success came in the race hold in Zalla, that counted towards the Basque Cup, in which she got the victory after a strong, solo attack. She was also one of the mainstays of the team from Durango in internacional, prestigious races such as the Euskal Emakumeen Bira, so in 2016 she will be one of the leaders of the team.

Coral Casado (Dueñas, 1996), after a 2015 in which she couldn’t show all her potential, will be looking forward to go back to her top level in 2016, a top level she has already displayed this fall in cyclo-cross races, winning and getting top-3 places. Her good job in the national road calendar made her be selected for racing with the Spanish National Team in August.

Finally, Elisabet Escursell (Terrassa, 1996) was a key element in many of the victories achieved by Bizkaia-Durango in 2015, thanks to her work as a domestique and to her brave attacks. In 2016 she will try to move a step forward, being again a fundamental rider for the Bizkaian squad.
