Andreina Rivera, new signing for Bizkaia-Durango

2015-12-18

The Colombian rider Andreina Rivera (1994) will be the eleventh member of the 2016 Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team, coming from ITAU-Shimano. The rider born in Sincelejo will compete for the second season in a row for a UCI team, after a 2015 season in which she achieved good results in American races, such as her third place in the young rider classification at the prestigious Amgen Tour of California. Also, in September, she made her first contact with European cycling at the Tour de l’Ardèche and at the Madrid Challenge by La Vuelta, finishing this race in the winner’s group.

Rivera got the silver medal at the 2013 Colombian Road Championship and the bronze at the 2014 Colombian Time Trial Championship — she's a strong time trial specialist as well as a fast sprinter. “I feel very happy and looking forward to starting this new period with the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team. I have to take it responsibly and with commitment, giving my best in every race. I’m very grateful with the confidence Bizkaia-Durango has put in me,” the Colombian says.

Rivera, who will be an important rider for the sprints, also says: “Being a member of the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team is a personal and professional challenge for me, as riding races with a high competitive level in Europe is any cyclist’s dream. I will use my experience gained throughout many years in order to represent the team as Bizkaia-Durango deserve.”
