Marga López (Campos, Majorca, 1997) is the most recent incorporation for the 2016 Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team. López, aged 18, will be in her first season as an U23 rider after having been one of the most renowned riders in the 2015 Spanish junior field.

Strong sprinter, with a high top of speed that makes her being explosive in bunch sprints, Marga López got the yellow jersey in the 2015 Spanish Cup thanks to her impressive victory in the race that took place in Fontiveros (Avila). In addition, in the summer she garnered a massive success in the velodrome, taking the gold in the Spanish Keirin National Championship and the silver in the Scratch race – and being in the team that got the title at the junior Team Pursuit and the silver medal in the elite Team Pursuit. She also achieved seven more gold medals in individual track races at the regional championships of the Balearic Islands and Valencia.

I am very grateful with the opportunity I’ve been given to be part of this big team. It is a chance I will try to take advantage of, because although I’m a first-year-U23, I’m really looking forward to learning from the team leaders, being useful in the teamwork and earning experience,” said Marga López after signing with Bizkaia-Durango, that have now 16 riders in their 2016 roster.
