Just in time before 2016 ends, the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team is pleased to announce two more riders who will join the team in the 2017 season: Vera Adrian and Carla Oberholzer, both from the African continent.

Vera Adrian (Windhoek, Namibia, 1993) is the current Namibian and African champion, both in the time trials and in the road races. She won those titles last February, and in August she compited at the Rio Olympic road race. At the South African KZN Summer Series (1.2 UCI) she got a fourth place in the second of the two races.

“I am very happy to be able to join the Bizkaia-Durango UCI Women’s Team next year for a few high quality races. Coming from Namibia it is not easy to get race experience in Europe, although it is crucial if you want to do well at the big races all around the world. For that I am so grateful to get the chance to improve in world class races.”

In the other side, Carla Oberholzer (Roodepoort, South Africa, 1987) was one of the most agressive riders in the UCI races which took place in her country last November. She ended up third at the second race of the KZN Summer Series and fourth at the 94.7 Cycle Challenge (1.1 UCI). Also, she rode the World Championships road race in Qatar.

It’s a great privilege and wonderful opportunity to be able to test myself against some of the best female cyclists in the world. I'm already looking forward to making a positive contribution to the team and hopefully enable them to obtain some good results.”
